Captain Joel of IUIC Philadelphia Breaks Down Repentance, Politics, and the War with Black America

REVIVE Radio on 98.5 WJYN, P.O.C. welcomed back Captain Joel of IUIC Philadelphia for a conversation that moved from faith and forgiveness to politics, war, economics, and the condition of Black communities across the country.

The conversation opened with the “word of the day,” which was repentance. Captain Joel described repentance as more than simply apologizing for wrongdoing. He described it as a complete turning away from harmful behavior and a return to what he believes are the original teachings and commandments found in the Bible.

Throughout the discussion, Captain Joel repeatedly connected modern day struggles facing Black communities to spiritual disobedience and biblical prophecy. He argued that issues like economic hardship, political instability, violence, and oppression cannot only be explained through policy or government systems. Instead, he framed them as part of a larger spiritual condition affecting people globally.

P.O.C. challenged many of the points during the interview, pushing the conversation deeper by asking about forgiveness, systemic racism, and the role of political power in shaping the conditions people live through today. The exchange created moments where listeners could hear two perspectives meet in real time while still respecting the importance of dialogue.

One of the strongest parts of the conversation was the discussion of the difference between forgiveness and repentance. Captain Joel explained that forgiveness is about letting go of bitterness after someone harms you, while repentance is about changing your own behavior and no longer repeating harmful actions. The discussion touched on how many people struggle with both concepts in relationships, families, communities, and even politics.

As the conversation expanded, the focus shifted toward world events, including tensions involving Iran, China, the economy, and the United States. Captain Joel interpreted many current events through a biblical lens, suggesting that major political and economic shifts happening around the globe are connected to prophecy. P.O.C. also brought attention to how rising prices, economic uncertainty, and political fear continue to impact everyday people in Black and Brown communities.

The interview also explored the relationship between Black Americans and systems of power. Captain Joel argued that many communities have become too dependent on outside institutions and stressed the importance of unity, self sufficiency, and reconnecting spiritually and culturally. P.O.C. balanced the conversation by grounding it in the lived experiences many listeners face every day, including poverty, instability, and systemic barriers.

One quote that stood out during the discussion came from Captain Joel, who said, “Repentance is to stop doing what we’re doing and come back to our culture and our heritage.”

Whether listeners agreed or disagreed with every point raised, the conversation created space for reflection and critical thinking. That has become one of the signatures of REVIVE Radio’s ongoing community conversations. Instead of avoiding difficult topics, the platform continues creating opportunities for people to hear perspectives that are often left out of mainstream media spaces.

As Philadelphia and communities across the country continue navigating uncertainty politically, economically, and spiritually, conversations like this continue to spark dialogue around accountability, faith, identity, and the future.

REVIVE Radio continues to bridge grassroots conversations with real community engagement, giving listeners a place to hear unfiltered discussions that connect culture, current events, and consciousness together in one space.
