Exhibit A Art Design publishes in her first virtual art gallery exhibit at the Art All Night Trenton showcasing June 19th and 20th, 2021. Art All Night-Trenton is presented by ArtWorks, Trenton’s downtown visual arts center. ArtWorks promotes artistic diversity by fostering creativity, learning, and appreciation of the arts. Our classes, exhibitions, and events make art an accessible experience for all. ArtWorks is a 501c3 non-profit organization serving the Trenton community for nearly 30 years. This exhibit in particular serves as a momentous occasion for the artist as she follows in her grandmother’s footsteps showcasing in the nation-wide gallery. Exhibit A is a self-taught artist out of the Tri-state area seeking to promote the visualization of black and brown people and eliminate the negative taboo mindset of therapy within the community. The work, titled “What If A Black Girl Knew” can be found here. The poetry outlines the struggles some African American women may face while learning to lead their own lives in society.
What if a black girl knew
How her strength is powered by the sun
That she is the light of ALL paths, the guide of her own journey
She is destruction, she is Creation! Fluent in languages of the soul
What if a black girl knew?
How self love, though it may mature, will NEVER expire
That she needs no BODY but her own to feel whole
