On 98.5 FM WJYN, we talked with Cheris Monique, the self-made powerhouse from Wilmington, Delaware, who turned setbacks into a full on movement. She’s a certified family life educator, a licensed social worker, and the founder of Rebuild Your Life, a program for women and girls ready to rise.
Cheris went from working construction sites to running her own daycare center, Jumping Jacks Learning Center, all while raising a family, earning her degrees, and staying rooted in service. But her real impact? Showing women they can start over, no matter how late it feels.
“I wrote my goals in a planner, even when life was falling apart,” she said. “I didn’t get what I wanted at first, but I didn’t forget what I deserved.”
Through her girls’ empowerment programs (ages 7–18) and her new podcast, “Steel Toes to Stilettos,” which dropped June 8th on YouTube, Cheris gives voice to the real grind behind growth. It’s not just about the wins, it’s about rebuilding from where you are and using what you’ve got.
Cheris’s story hit especially hard for women who balance dreams with diapers, goals with grief, or just surviving while trying to thrive. “Progress doesn’t mean perfection,” she said. It just means you’re still in the game.”
Listeners were reminded that confidence is a muscle. With tools like her Rebuild Your Life planner and coaching, Cheris is making it easier for women everywhere to stay focused.
